Watt’s Next for The Browns

Week two of Monday Night Football in 2023 will be a day many Cleveland Browns players & fans will not soon forget. From the disappointing loss, to the devastating injury to Nick Chubb, to the terrible offensive play from star quarterback Deshaun Watson. An easily winnable game ends with more questions than answers from all different perspectives. But the biggest question all parties have is, What now?

The Steelers game was there for the taking, the defense came out with the same fire they had in the first week of the season. Besides one busted coverage on George Pickens, the defense gave the offense every opportunity to win this game. Deshaun Watson was responsible for three crucial turnovers, two of which resulted in touchdowns. Even after all of this, the Browns had a chance to win the game & Watson couldn't get it done. A night in which the new look Browns were going to be on display for the whole world to see instead turned into a celebration of achievement for the all-time Steeler sack leader TJ Watt.

The Cleveland offense was abysmal for a lack of better term. After Nick Chubb went down the unit was completely out of sorts. Granted there were some bright spots with the play of Amari Cooper & Jerome Ford, but the negatives outweigh the positives. Watson was overthrowing receivers & not reading the field well, the offensive line looked outmatched, the coaches didn’t call plays for the players to succeed. Overall, it was the worst case scenario for a team that could be sitting at 2-0.

Fans & media all over the world have not been handling this loss well. Everyone is sort of questioning if the team made the right move bringing in Deshaun. The simple way to change the tone? Win on Sunday. The Browns are facing a Tennessee Titans team that is a carbon copy of the Pittsburgh team they just faced. For the defense, keep doing what you are doing & limit Derrick Henry & Deandre Hopkins. DO NOT let Ryan Tannehill look better than he is. Tennessee is 28th versus the pass & 4th against the run, Deshaun Watson will have no choice but to sling the ball. If the Browns win & Watson showcases flashes of improvement, the fan base will rest. If he struggles, well get ready. There may be some tough conversations that need to be had amongst the organization.
